ERCP

Combines upper gastrointestinal (GI) endoscopy and x rays to treat problems of the bile and pancreatic ducts. ERCP is also used to diagnose problems, but the availability of non-invasive tests such as magnetic resonance cholangiography has allowed ERCP to be used primarily for cases in which it is expected that treatment will be delivered during the procedure.

Endoscopy

A lighted flexible endoscope is used to view the esophagus, stomach and duodenum to diagnose ulcers, abnormal growths, precancerous conditions, bowel obstruction, inflammation and hiatal hernia.

Colonoscopy

A procedure used to see inside the colon and rectum to detect inflamed tissue, ulcers, abnormal growths and polyps. Some polyps can be removed during screening.

Flexible Sigmoidoscopy

This procedure is used to see inside the sigmoid (lower) colon and rectum to detect inflamed tissue, abnormal growths and ulcers.
